Frequently Asked Questions
Who can perform a hair transplant?
In principle, any doctor qualified to perform surgery can perform hair transplantation, no specific specialization is required. In any case, we strongly recommend you obtain confirmation from the Medical Association or the Ministry of Health of your country.
Can dentists perform hair transplants?
Dentists can perform hair transplants if they are licensed to perform minor surgery. In any case, we strongly recommend you obtain confirmation from the Medical Association or the Ministry of Health of your country.
Who can participate in the course? What requirements must one have?
- Physicians. Only Doctors with a degree in Medicine and Surgery can participate.
- Nurses and similar professionals. They can participate as assistants only jointly with the doctor with whom they collaborate. The participation of 1 assistant involves the payment of an additional fee.
What kind of learning curve can be expected?
What kind of environment is required to perform hair transplantation?
What equipment is needed to perform a hair transplant?
What kind of personnel is needed to perform hair transplantation?
- 1 anesthesiologist (not mandatory, but advisable and useful for sedation).
- 1 or 2 assistants, with 1 specialized to help with the actual transplant and 1 generalist to help with everything else.
Is it always necessary for an anesthesiologist to participate in FUE transplantation? Can this be taken care of by the person who physically performs the procedure?
What is the difference between the various types of hair transplantation?
- FUE (follicular unit excision) is the technique of choice, it uses the removal of individual bulbs from the donor area, where it leaves virtually invisible scars and is therefore much less invasive than FUT.
- The FUT, also called Strip, involves the removal of a flap of skin from the donor area and subsequent surgical suturing. In experienced hands, the FUT remains a valid technique, but has a scarring outcome always visible in case you decide to wear your hair short.
Do you issue a certificate at the end of the course? Is it internationally acknowledged?
What is the value of your certificate for insurance purposes?
How does the Mentorship work?
The Course provides all the theoretical and practical basics of hair transplantation: then, as in all things, a certain amount of experience is needed to master the technique. After the Course, we give trainees the opportunity to take advantage of customised practical training, aimed at speeding up the process of gaining the experience needed to perform hair transplants independently.
The modalities of mentorship clearly depend very much on the circumstances, especially of the trainee (level of experience? is he/she from abroad? and so on), and must be agreed on a case-by-case basis.
Having clarified this, we generally give trainees the opportunity to participate in our interventions, to varying degrees according to their level of experience, and not to pay for this training but, on the contrary, to receive part of the compensation in proportion to the work done.
